Below and in front of a nuclear cloud Proper a bombshell, fired per fess wavy Or and Gules, radiating upwards from a common center point just below the bomb, four lightning bolts, two to front and two to rear bevilled as the flame, all within a diminished border.
Attached above the disc, a scroll edged with a narrow border and inscribed "509TH MUNITIONS SQUADRON".
Attached below the disc, a scroll edged with a narrow border and inscribed "SEMPER PARATUS NAM BELLUM".
The atomic cloud burst represents the two atomic bombs used in wartime by the 509th Bomb Wing and further demonstrates that atomic power is still used as a deterrent to war and a defender of peace. The flaming ordnance pot refers to the ordnance personnel. The four lightning bolts symbolize the Squadron's constant state of readiness.
